Google Earth

This is not a major problem but I am curious. I installed Google Earth 4.3.7284.3916 (beta) this past summer. Whenever I launch it, the view of Earth that initially displays looks strange (see graphic). Does anyone else experience this, or have any idea what causes it? The previous version I had installed did not display this behavior. I'm running a Vista Ultimate system.

Whenever I zoom in or search for a location the problem goes away. It only shows up if I have the whole globe displayed.

Cheers,
Regards,
PaulB

Probably something to do with global warming or the hole in the ozone layer. Google is always on the cutting edge with this stuff.

Actually.... that is very strange. I'm still using an older version of Google Earth and haven't experienced this. Guess I'll wait until there is more information on this. I'm not that green yet.

The lounge has again saved the day! Thanks for the links, Leif. I set OpenGL as the default renderer for Google Earth and the problem disappeared.

Re: Google Earth

If all else had failed, Doc, I would have followed your lead and claimed that the hole in the ozone layer had widened and centered itself over Canada and the northern states. Leif pointed me to the solution, so I'll just sit back and enjoy the Ozone.

Cheers,
