    docked toolbar (Vista SP1)

somehow the contents of one of the folders on my desktop now appears in a toolbar docked to the left side of the screen. The folder remains on the desktop, which seems otherwise to be behaving normally. How do I get rid of this? It does not respond to right clicking or dragging or anything else. And, preferably, how do I get rid of it completely?

    thanks in advance

I've now managed to get rid of it, by right clicking on the folder name at the top of the bar. But can I stop this happening again?

A toolbar such as you describe is created by dragging a folder on the desktop to one of the edges of the screen. You probably did that by accident.
