Most should, BUT, there are some that will NOT.
Most of the System utilities, such as the AV, Firewall, spy blockers, backup and imagining and etc, will need to be updated.

Are you Buying this Vista on a NEW machine or as a upgrade to your current machine?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

You ought to get the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor. Install and run it on your XP machine. It will examine your system and give you a report of what should work with Vista and what won't.

NOTE: you'll probably need to dig into the recommendations more yourself to find the best solutions.

Re: Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)

I went to Best Buy and Circuit City and both stores told me that Office 2000 and Office XP will NOT run on Vista because it is a different operating system. I thought Vista was NTFS like XP. Then I have a bunch of programs Omnipage Pro, ReadIris, games like Scrabble. The stores are telling me I have to buy all the programs again, and I do not believe that. Any ideas before I buy it? The computer I want is an HP A6620F

Yes, I know Dave. I am not a computer illiterate person, and I went back to the store and told them they they don't have the lastest information on Vista because the Microsoft Site states that Vista technicians made modifications to use in Compatibilityy Mode so the programs can be used. It beehoves me that they lie to customers that really don't know anything and then they get suckered into spending money they don't need to spend. Thanks. for your help
