    PPT Background (PowerPoint 2003)

My PPT starts with a black square that shrinks into the middle of the screen until it disappears, in this way revealing the background image. Is there a way to start such that only the background image appears--all at once at the very start--without that effect? I am used to using a black background so I didn't have that problem (the effect was simply hidden--black on black), but now that I'm using a photo, it looks quite odd.

    Regards,

    JMT

Is the black square a separate object on the slide that you can just delete?
If not then have a look at Slide Show > Custom Animation... and see if you can just remove the animation from there.
Another place this could be coming from is Slide Show > Slide Transition...

You have a transition effect applied to the slides(s). (It will be "Box In" I guess)

    Select the first slide
    Slide show > Slide transition

    Choose "None"

DO NOT hit "Apply to All"

    Try the presentation - Fixed?

It worked! It was under slide show > slide transition. “Box In” was selected. I didn’t even know that that was an option for a background. Thank you!
