Service unavailable? (OE 5.5 (now 6.0))

For the past week I have been getting "service unavailable" messages when trying to use OE with hotmail (.msn) I had this problem once before and can't for the life of me remember what I did to fix, although it seems like I ended up re-installing. I just upgraded to 6.0, however and that has not solved the problem. I tried to remove the hotmail account and then add a new account using the wizard which seems to set up fine except that it will not connect, saying "service unavailable try back later" I am using @home cable modem and have no other connection problems. Any ideas?

This is still not working and is really bothering me although I don't really need to use OE to access hotmail (I like the greater editing features of OE) Here is the text of the "details" of the "service unavailable" message.

    Configuration:
    Account: Hotmail
    Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
    User name: jackkniskern@msn.com
    Protocol: HTTPMail
    Port: 0
    Secure(SSL): 0
    Code: 800cccf0

PS I can access my hotmail through www.hotmail.com or www.msn.com no problem, just not through OE

What ISP do you use? I have had occasional problems picking up pop3 email with OE, connecting through AOL. Re-installing AOL sometimes helps. Mostly a problem with AOL 6. Currently beta testing AOL 7, seems to work better.

I have done some investigating and lit looks like my father's msn account is partially suspended. When I access his account through msn.com, and click on "options", there is no "password" option available. However, when I access my own hotmail account , the password option is there. Could this be a corrupted cookie file on this computer? How do I reset it if it is? I have tried everything I can think of in terms of resets and reboots and re-installations, but nothing changes. I think I will try to call the (toll) helpline and see if it is something on the msn end. Again, any ideas?

Well I'm up and running again. Contacted hotmail support, which replied twice telling me to do 2 entirely different things. The first was to 1st: remove all accounts using tools/accounts/remove and then to uninstall OE, and then to reinstall. I did this but still no luck. The second response said to contact http://supportservices.msn.com and to click on email under tools, and then reconfigure email. I did this and got back a tool not available message. But luckily it also said to try http://supportservices.msn.com /us/oeconfig and this quickly fixed the problem. A corrupted file of some kind, I guess
