    Word Acting Strangr (Word 2007)

When I try to open Word, I get one of 3 strange responses. Take your pick.
    1. Word opens without anything in the Styles section of the ribbon and when I click in the field, it says "not responding".
    2. Word opens as a blank white screen.
    3. Word opens as a blank blue screen. without the ribbon.

If I type "winword /a" in Run, Word opens and is functional.

How do I resolve this problem?

Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word,197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word<!/post> is intended for older versions of Word, but most of it applies to Word 2007 too.

In particular, I'd try the following:
    - Quit all instances of Word.
    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type regedit and press Enter or click OK.
    - Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice12.0WordDa ta.
    - Use File | Export to export the Data key to a .reg file.
    - With Data still selected, select Edit | Delete or press the Delete key.
    - Confirm that you want to delete this key and all subkeys.
    - Start Word again to see if the problem is gone.
    - If not, you can restore the Data key by opening the .reg file that you saved.

Thank you. I'll give it a try.
