Reconnecting USB (2003/Not Sure)

You know when you click on the USB task bar thing and disconnect a USB drive prior to removal? Can you reconnect it without physically removing the drive and putting it back in again?

I'm thinking here of a USB drive attached to a server in a machine room some way away which was accidentally disconnected with typical access via RDP.

If you can get to the server by remote connection:
Select Start | Run...
Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter or click OK to start Device Manager.
Expand "USB Controllers" or "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" (I'm not sure what exactly you will see)
There will be one or more USB Root Hub entries.
Right click the first one, and select Disable from the popup menu.
Right click it again and select Enable from the popup menu.
If the USB drive has not returned, try the same on the next USB Root Hub, etc.
When you can see the USB drive again you can close the Device Manager

I've never tried this and I don't know if it will work remotely on a server, but I found this in a Google, the link of which I won't bother you with:

Click on Start button -> Click on Run -> type in "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes-> Click on OK..
This will open up the device manager.

Double click on the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" icon on the device manager, and you will now see a couple of "USB Root Hub". Right click on the first one, and select "Disable". Right click on it again and select enable. If the Reemoveable Disk G: has not returned, try the same process on the next usb root hub. If it has returned then close device manager.

This will definately work
