    iPhone sync problem (Windows XP)

When I sync my iPhone, it always rearranges my Favorites menu in Windows Explorer, so I deleted all of the favorites from my iPhone. Well, when I synced it, the iPhone or iTunes proceeded to delete all of the Favorites off my computer! Apple wasn't any help, they said it shouldn't do that. Yeah, I was pretty clear letting them know I agreed. Well, I was on the internet not long before I synced, and I can say with a lot of certainty, my Favorites were there. I again got back on the net not long after syncing, and they're gone. Whatever. Can you tell I'm frustrated?

Is there any way to restore my Favorites menu in Windows XP? Last night I did my weekly / biweekly virus scan / Spybot cleaning / CCleaner. Would CCleaner wipe out any such restores?

CCleaner doesn't affect Favorites - I run it from time to time and it has never removed my Favorites. Spybot Search and Destroy doesn't do that either.

    Don't use Apple products on a Windows PC. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

The only way to restore Favorites would be from a backup.

Are you thinking of a System Restore point? Favorites would not be part of a System Restore.

Thanks. I was curious if a System Restore would bring them back. I didn't suspect Spybot or CCleaner to erase my Favorites folder, just any type of restores.

Thanks for the quick responses. I had probably 100 links saved, all organized in folders, many of them business related. This is gonna suck.

You don't have a backup of your system?

No, I just backup files (Word documents, drawings, etc.) onto a flashdrive.

After you rebuild your favorites list, you could always export your Favorites and include the file in what you copy to the flash drive. Or look into a third party imaging product. Look around in or search the Computer Security and Backup forum for more discussion about backup products.
