    Data Filter (Excel '07)

I have a spreadsheet that has 231 Rows, and 10 Columns. Using COUNT(A:A) I have the number of rows totaled at the top. I filter the rows using the headings I have set up for the columns. Using: =SUBTOTAL(9,E19:E249) I am subtotaling them so that when I filter, the totals for that particular heading come out correctly. Now I want to be able to count the rows that are in that particular heading. For example there are 231 rows total but on 6 in heading xx. I also want to show that data in a separate cell for each heading.
    Thanks John

    You could use =SUBTOTAL(3,E19:E249)

The first argument 3 corresponds to COUNTA, whereas the original value 9 corresponds to SUM. You can look up a list of possible values for the first argument in the Excel help or in SUBTOTAL - Excel - Microsoft Office Online.
