copying to CD Rom (Windows XP Service Pack 2)

Hi: I just bought Windows Vista and I am trying to copy things from my hard drive to CD Rom. When I put a CD Rom in the CD Rom Drive the information copies on to it, but I have a second CD Rom Drive which is a DVD/DVD R Drive. When I put the DVD R into the DVD drive, the information will not copy over; it tells me there is no disk in the drive.

Can someone tell me how I can make a data CD onto the DVR + R disc so I won't have to use so many discs in my CD Rom Drive?

What kind of CD are you trying to use?

Are you trying to use DVD's or CD's?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

You ought to look at a USB hard drive. You can get one from 250 GB to 500 GB on sale weekly for < $100 USD here in the mid-west.

Hmmmm. I read Nancy's post as that she is using XP to create the CD's before she installs Vista..... <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Has the DVD drive always worked ?? You say it's a DVD/DVD-R. Do you mean DVD-R/DVD-RW ?? If it is not a DVD-RW it will not write to a DVD or any other media.

If it is not a DVD-RW you should probably look into a USB HD as the cheapest and most flexible alternative in your situation.
