    Allow Scriplets (7.0.5730.13)

Is it wise to allow Scriplets in the Internet Zone and the Local Internet Zone? I have it set to Prompt.

A Java page explained that scriplets are the workhouses of JSP. And that it's basically some Java code contained within a special JSP tag embedded in an HTML page.

As with all imbedded active code, it depends on your browsing habits. If you mainly visit the same set of sites that you already trust then it is probably OK.

The term "scriptlets" may have multiple meanings. JSP is a language that is interpreted on the server, and does not need to be (and likely cannot be) interpreted by your browser.

In the context of Internet Explorer's security settings, it sounds as though you should leave Scriptlets disabled:
<hr>Internet Explorer 7 disables Dynamic HTML (DHTML) scriptlets, by default. (Scriptlets were deprecated in Internet Explorer 5). ... If your programs currently rely on scriptlets, you should modify the programs to use DHTML behaviors, which are more efficient. Disabling scriptlets is part of the continuing work to ensure that unsupported technology is de-emphasized in Internet Explorer.<hr>

My thanks to both you and Joe for your thoughts, although they express opposite views. I do tend to visit the same sites repeatedly, I have checked it and now I'll wait and see if anything bad happens.
