    Extracting string/number from another tab (2007)

    For my Employee tab, I'm trying to extract the first name from the Names tab but my formula only limited to the same page =IFERROR(LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1),A1). I'm also trying to extract the phone extention and reference the extention to get the zipcode from the phone-code tab. Please review the attachment.
    Thank you.

    Why don't you place all information on the same sheet? Using separate sheets is confusing.

    But what guarantee do you have that the data are in the same order in the three sheets?
    Moreover, the Phone-code and Employee info sheets have a column headers row, while the NAMES sheet doesn't.
    So it's all very iffy.

    I don't have Excel 2007 so I cannot test the IFERROR function.
    You could use the following formulas in row 2 on the Employee info sheet:
    <code>
    =MID(NAMES!A1,FIND(" ",NAMES!A1)+1,FIND(" ",NAMES!A1,FIND(" ",NAMES!A1)+2)-FIND(" ",NAMES!A1)-1)

    =RIGHT(NAMES!C1,4)
    or
    ='Phone-code'!A2

    ='Phone-code'!B2
    </code>
    and fill down.

    PS Best wishes for 2009.

    Yeah, your formulas work. I'll try to read a little more on the MID & FIND functions.

    Thank you.
