    Securing 2007 (2007)

Hi. Access 2007 no longer has security tools. However, is it possible to implement security using programming? Which Object Model gives access to usernames, passwords. etc?
    Thanks, Andy.

User-level security is not supported for the new .accdb file format, whether interactively or using code. But you can still use it in Access 2007 for databases using the older .mdb format. So you might consider staying with the .mdb format.

If you want to implement some kind of user-level security in an .accdb database, you'll have to write it yourself, there's no ready-to-use object model.

    Thank you.
To program it oneself I assume would require using the StartUp sequence to show a switchboard, keep usernames, etc., in a hidden table and eventually converting to an accde file?

    Something like that, yes.
