overlay charts (2003)

I have a user that has an area chart in his spreadsheet.
He has another data series which he wants to plot OVER the area chart, but as a line (actually, the points create a slight curve).
The only way we've been able to do this is another area chart, with no fill, but the result has red lines around the borders.

If you plot the line on a secondary Y axis you can do that.

You can add the series to the original area chart, either by dragging the source data onto the chart, or by clicking on the chart, then selecting Chart | Add Data...
The new series will be displayed as an area series.
Next, click once on the new series to select it, then select Chart | Chart Type, and select Line Chart.
Select the desired subtype, and click OK.
The change will only be applied to the selected series, not to the entire chart.

I must be doing something wrong because when I clicked on the second area chart (which I want as a line) and changed the type to line, the new line was very "fuzzy".
Is there a setting I'm missing that would make it a continuous line like it shows when it's an area chart?

Could you post a copy of your workbook, zipped if necessary (and with sensitive information removed)?

Dbl click on the line and remove the marker. The "X" as marker is so frequent is adds the fuzziness. Just keep the line...

It's the point markers that are causing that effect. If you remove them, it will be a plain line. (or you can make them smaller)

The fuzziness is caused by the markers of the data points.
Click on the series again, select Chart | Chart Type again, and select a sub type without markers, the first sub type.
