Farewell Patrick McGoohan

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/jan/1...oner-actor-dies

I was pretty young when The Prisoner was on, and didn't understand half of it (if that), but it was groundbreaking. Must see if the series is out on DVD.

If you find it, post back. I would probably buy a copy/set. I was always a big fan of Patrick McGoohan when I could see his stuff on US television. Good guy and a sad loss. With his distictive voice I always thought he was a native born Brit. I didn't realize he was born in this country.

Also sad to see he'd died and remember The Prisoner series fondly.

John - if you understand any more of it now you aren't a callow youth, can you please let the rest of us into the secret ....

Thank you, John. I trust Amazon and will probably order a set.

Actually I preferred Danger Man (and that shows my age!)

    RIP to a great actor.

There's a fairly good coverage of the series/ story here: The Prisoner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It still has quite a cult following, and the history of the Welsh resort village Portmeirion in which it was filmed is quite a story in itself.
