Need to change designation in My Docs in My Places (Office XP 2003)

In Win XP Office 2003, the icon "My Documents" on the My Places Sidebar points to the wrong drive. The sidebar icon points to drive D:My Documents

Drive D is the CD/DVD drive and there is no My Documents folder.

How do I change the icon properties for My Documents in the My Places sidebar?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

That's strange - the default My Documents icon points to the location that Windows considers to be your My Documents folder. I'd use Regedit to check if there are references to D:My Documents in the Windows Registry.

See How to customize the My Places bar in both the Open and the Save As dialog boxes in Office for details on the way the My Places bar works.

Thank you Hans, for the response.

Using a registry editor, under "Standard Places" Here Are The Values I See

    Name.........................Data................. ......Type....................Size

    (Default)...............(value not set)..............Reg_SZ...................0
    index..................1 (0x00000001).............Reg_DW................. 4

What do I change to correct my issue?

Don't you have subkeys under StandardPlaces?

I don't think he's using Regedit. Looks like a third party registry editor.

Using Regedit, I show the same folders Hans is showing above. I get the same values I posted above but the columns are in a slightly different order.

You might try removing the shortcut from My Places, close Office, then reboot, open Office and restore the shortcut. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>

Thank you for all the responses.

I solved this issue by renaming all my hard drives. Now when I click on the My Document button I go to My Documents on a proper drive.

    Thank again.
