Overlap Chart - who's on top? (2002 SP3)

(Edited by delenca on 16-Jan-09 22:50. wrong chart type)
Hi,

Quick question: how do I control which of 2 series in a histogram is "on top" when adjust "overlap" in a Column graph? Right now, whenever I adjust overlap the 2nd series always goes on top of the first series. Is there a way to reverse this?

Thanks,
Alex

Click on any of the series to select it.
Select Format | Selected Series...
Activate the Series Order tab.
You can change the order of the series here using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

But I don't want to change the order of my series. I want the First Series to be on top of the Second Series.

Bummer, that's what I figured. I'll have to use a different program then.

Thanks anyway!

Can you define what you mean by "on top" to make sure we get this right. Do you mean you want a "Stacked Bar Chart" like in this picture?

Or maybe you mean on top like this?

Sorry, I didn't read carefully enough.

whenever I adjust overlap the 2nd series always goes on top of the first series. Is there a way to reverse this?

This was like my second example. and I don't think you can change which series is on top except by changing the order.

So the problem seem to be just one of manipulation of the legend i.e. change the order of the Legend.

I guess he just wants Product A, Product B listed in that order in the legend, but the data for Product A shown in front as per your sample chart.

The way I changed the legend label order was to set up a third series, values ={0} but using the same label cell address as for Product A and same formatting colours etc.
You now get 3 legends appearing.
Then just highlight the first one in the Legend, right click and select Clear to get rid of it..
You've now reversed the Legend order and still have the data where you want it.
