Populating some cells (2003)

I'm attaching part of a workbook that has a few thousand rows in this style.
I need to create the information that is in column B (already created by hand in the attached sample as an illustration).

1. If col H has "assembly", col B gets col C's item (easy to do).
2. If col H has "inventory", col B gets the item from col C that is 2 or 3 or 4 lines above it (that just came from ASSEMBLY) [this is where I'm really stuck].
3. Sometimes there are NO sub-items (with Inventory in H), but only assembly.

Enter the following array formula in B2 (confirm with Ctrl+Shift+Enter):

=IF(H2="ASSEMBLY",C2,IF(H2="INVENTORY",OFFSET($C$1 ,MAX((H$1:H1="ASSEMBLY")*ROW($1:1))-1,0),""))

and fill down as far as needed.
