Unbelievable! Amazing! The kid has GOT to grow up to be a mathematician or scientist!

Why would he do that Al ??? He'll make more money hustling pool than he'll ever make in math or science.

Besides, pool is in his blood. Didn't you ever see The Color of Money ??

And before "The Color of Money" there was the movie "The Hustler". Mind you I found the book much more captivating than the movie.

The message I got from both was that if you're going to be a hustler, be prepared to take a few very hard knocks. Many pool hall denizens do not like to be parted from their money.

The book was waaay better than the movie !!! But Gleason & Newman were amazing too.

I thought both stories were meant to show the glitzy public side and the seedy underbelly of the profession and human behavior. I'm not sure that not liking to be parted from one's money applies only to denizens of the pool halls. I'm not real happy with the mortgage and financial markets these days. But whose fingers do I break for that ??

Re: This kid is pretty impressive

I think of growing up 'Hard Knocks' as being in the range of hurt egos at the bottom end, to 'broken arms' near the top. In the world depicted by 'The Hustler', broken arms fall near the bottom of the scale.
