    Autodave (2000 SR 1)

Can anyone explain why it is necessary to tick the autosave option every time Excel is opened. I have added this autosave to do precisely that, I don't want a nag screen saying do you want to save.
Is there a way to have this autosave automatically run? If not why not, it seems a stupid piece of coding to me.

    Any ideas?

Use the option on the autosave selection screen "Prompt before saving " to set or unset the prompt screen, do you want to save. If you need to set autosave each time you open Excel I would advise re-installing the add-in.

This is precisely what I have done and why I complaining about this piece of brain dead coding. Why should I have to deselect "Prompt before saving" every time I open Excel.
Isn't there a way of setting this option once and for all. When you think about it, autosave is something you want going on in the background not pestering you if you want to autosave. I call this niggle coding.
    Thanks for your response.

    Jan you are a marvel.

This autosave has bugged me for years. One post from you and it is solved. I have downloaded the Autosafe.zip and oh-la I have banished one of life's niggles.

    Many thanks.

    What a great forum!

    Two things:

There is a bug in XL2K that does exactly what you complain about: XL forgets the Autosave settings. You should be able to find a cure for that on the MS site.

Secondly, I've written a freeware alternative to this autosave add-in, that is much better. Find it at:

(bottom of page, file called Autosafe.zip)
