reading an spss file with xl

i would want to read spss sav file with xl the use pivot table. The are many value labels in the spss file, I do not want to convert the file dbf and loose all of the value labels. Can this be done via odbc?

Do you have the SPSS Statistics Data File (.SAV) Driver? I've never tried it myself, but I assume it recognizes data labels.

If that doesn't work, you can save a .sav file as an Excel file. The dialog lets you specify whether you want value labels.
