Error 2950 and data mismatch (Access 2003)

I have a problem. I have a report that gives me a data mismatch error in expression when I try to open it, and it won't open. I have gone into design view...scoured each field, formula, query its based on, and cannot see a mismatch anywhere. In fact I compared this report, the query, the expressions etc...to a prior report in another folder (this database was copied from a 2008 folder to a 2009 folder)...and everything about all of it works great in the 2008 folder. There must be 50 reports in the old folder and new folder that work great. It is just two of them that are giving me this problem about datamismatch...and I was wondering if you could give me some advice on what I might be missing when I am searching as to why this data mismatch is coming up now, when it worked just fine before, and all other reports work fine.
    thanks

Could you create a copy of the database, remove everything except for the problem report(s) and the tables/queries needed for them, then compact and zip the copy and attach it?

    Hans,

I will try. I just came home for lunch, but will be back at work at 1 pm Eastern Standard US time. I have compacted it, but it still stands at 4 mb, so will see what I can delete and upload it then.

    Thank you for your help....

In the tblNellSchedule table, the NellHours field is defined as text.
In the reports, the NellHours field is summed in the group footer and in the report footer.
As long as the contents of NellHours are numeric even though it is a text field, Access will politely sum them.
But in record number 106, the value of NellHours is R118. This causes the error - it is not a valid number.
If you correct this value, the reports will open without an error.

    Hans,

I found it after searching since 7:30 a.m. this morning. She had an error in the hours field (typed letters into it). When I deleted the entry (from her table) the report opened just fine. Actually both reports open just fine. I tell you what. I need an aspirin.

Thanks anyhow...somehow I knew it was in data entry as this database worked just fine only days ago.

Looks like you and I found it at the same time...
Thanks Hans I really do mean it.
I just came back from her office, and she is going to get "ribbed" by her peers a while for that data entry error.

    Always grateful

    Hans,

Got it below 100k. Just click on the form to view reports for Nell. It will take you to her reports form. The two reports that are not working from the reports form are the FTE By Instructor and the FTE by Category.

    Thanks for looking Hans

You might prevent such errors by defining the NellHours (and the Nell#Students field as well) as number fields instead of as text fields.
