Clipboard pane is a pain (2003)

Ever since my work PC was rebuilt, Word brings up the clipboard pane on the right when I copy stuff. I uncheck the option to show the clipboard automatically and it stops doing it for that session. But the next day it is back again. How do I turn this off permanently? It never used to do it, and Word 2003 on my home PC doesn't do it.

Sounds like settings aren't being stored correctly. Try Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word,197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word<!/post>.

Thanks. WIth the way our work computers are locked down, I can try some of Phil's remedies, but not others (such as deleting the data key - I can't edit the registry).

I'll see whether some of those help.

Too bad - the Data key would be my suspect #1...

I can run Detect and Repair, I think. Is that likely to help?

It's worth a try, it won't harm your installation, but I doubt that it overwrites the Data key.

Are ALL of the service patches been installed?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Well, if they haven't been, I can't do anything about it - service patches and the like are centrally managed.
