Secure Search engine (Firefox XP SP2 )

Just became aware of this search engine that guarantees to keep absolutely NO record of web sites visited, the only down side I have encountered is that - unlike other search engines - it does not provide a tab for favourites or am I missing something? Hailing from Holland it is like Hans in two ways at least, it is very quick [efficient] and always available. Regards SF

    Dave,

There is a bit of an incompatibility between "absolutely NO record of web sites visited" and "a tab for favourites"! You can't have both in the same browser.

Just shows how little I know about these things. I suppose what I expected is a sort of Oxymoron but the down side for total anonymity I suppose is that one has to type the URL into the search box every time which is a bit of a drag. That said it seems a good SE for those who want their tracks covered. Thanks Stuart...

Can you post the URL for this site? It's not clear to me what you mean by "it does not provide a tab for favourites". Are you trying to bookmark it?

    Cheers,
    Regards,

Still don't understand what you mean by "tab for favorites" or the need to type the URL (which URL?) into the search box every time.

    Cheers,

I don't think this search site offers much in the way of anonymity. It claims not to store your IP address with its records of user searches. Is this significantly different than other search engines that you use without logging in? I suppose if a search engine were forced to turn over its web logs to law enforcement in response to a subpoena, then there would be a difference because that IP address could be traced to people who subscribe to your ISP (or maybe even to your house if you have a fixed IP), but that does not seem like a high frequency scenario...

I made a post about that search engine 15 September last year and put it in "Other Software Applications" since it isn't browser specific (nor is it an application, on the user end at least, but I thought that sub forum was the most appropriate).

Thanks all....having read the various responses I think I will just stay with Firefox, Ask.com and maybe give Scroogle a go but don't think I will bother you "Paul" any further by trying to explain what I originally failed to describe in detail. Thanks anyway. SF
