    Repairing XP (SP-2)

I am trying to run a repair on my daughter's laptop, but I keep getting messages that iesetup.dll and rundll are not accessible -- access denied.

It was not being able to connect to the internet, which is what started the whole problem.

I ran the repair booting from the install CD, and selecting to repair the current install.

What's causing this, and is it fixable without a total re-install?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Chuck

%SystemRoot%system32rundll32.exe iesetup.dll,IEHardenAdmin is related to Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (ESC).
You may have picked up a root kit or some other nasty. I would run a scan for root kits and go from there.

You could also uninstall IE7 and then download and install it again.
