    Empty folder shows message exists

My "Drafts" folder is empty, but it shows a "(1)" after it in the folder list. How do I get rid of this annoyance? <img src=/S/frown.gif border=0 alt=frown width=15 height=15>

This annoyance happened to me. I opened that folder, went to the Edit menu and chose to Mark all Messages as Read. Then the number (indicating unread messages) will disappear. Doesn't solve the mystery, but does get rid of the annoyance.

Hmm. Tried it but the phantom message is still shown as a "(1)" next to drafts. Maybe I need to put it in an oven to reveal the secret message!

Sorry that didn't work for you. My extra phantom messages were in my Inbox. Perhaps you used invisible ink to compose that one!

Do you have a new email opened and not sent? This will show a draft but could not be post in the folder because it is open.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

No, the ghost "draft" simply does not exist. It survives daily shutdowns and startups. Inbox repair tool did not correct it either. It's one of those annoying things that seems to cause no harm.

Try changing your "Current View" settings.

We had these invisible messages occur when someone accidentally changed the view settings to something else like "unread messages" or "last seven days".

The default view for the "DRAFTS" folder is "SENT TO" in Outlook 2000. Try selecting the DRAFTS folder, then go to VIEW -> Current View -> and check SENT TO

If that doesn't work, try pick and choosing the other views.

    Good Luck.

It worked! The invisible file was in a "sent to" view under Draft folder. Thanks for the great help.
