Non internet but email OK (6 or &?)

    Hi

I'm trying to help a fellow Lounger who emailed me to say his email works but he cannot get on to the internet (or he would raise his issue himself).

I suggested a system restore to see if that cured it, but it didn't. He says he has recently uninstalled Zone Alarm and is using Windows firewall (he's on XP) but has made no other changes, and it's not clear whether the problem started when he made that change. Suggestions welcome, which I will pass on.

    Regards,

    Ian

Did he re-boot after uninstalling ZoneAlarm? Has he checked the Windows Security Center? Can you get him a copy of Firefox or some other browser to test?

I have found many times that the "Program Controls" in ZoneAlarm has been set to HIGH and there is not internet access.
Set them both to Medium and all works for me.

Yes, but he was OK until he uninstalled Zone Alarm, I think.
