Lost Menu (Office 2000)

I have a pc that is running windows 98 with office 2000 installed. I some how managed to lose the "format" menu.

I have tried going to the "tools" menu, down to "customizing", to "resetting" the tools bar.

I have also tried uninstalling office 2000, rebooting windows, shutting down & rebooting windows again, to reinstalling office 2000 with no luck at all.

I am really stumped & truly don't want to reformat the hard drive (unless it is necessary).

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Greg,

Just to clarify, did you reset the "Menu Bar" in Tools/Customize?

Otherwise, try selecting the Commands tab and locate the Built-in Menus category. Drag and drop the Format menu from the right back into place.

    BAM,

    Thanks for the help.

Ironically enough, I just logged back in to inform others that I managed to figure out how to fix this problem by looking at other posts with somewhat similiar problems. It gave me an idea on how to correct the problem.

    Thanks again.....

    You guys are wonderful resources!

See My Menus and Toolbars Are Missing and Won't Come Back! on the MVPs site for a list of the ways things like this can happen and how to get your menu back.

    Hi Charles,

The methods in the article are for menu bar/toolbars that are completely missing from the screen. Rebuilding the Registry key will not reset customizations that have been made such as a single missing menu item.
