    Field codes (2003)

    Hello:

I am in a document where some of my styles are called Level 1 and others are called Main heading 1. Whenever I try to insert entries based on these styles as fields, they don’t show up. When I press alt+F9, the correct code is there, but when I press alt+F9 again, the area is blank.

I remember trying a similar operation last year with the style “Main sub, sub-heading” and was told that the problem was the coma (or maybe it was the dash). But I can’t image what the problem is with “Level 1” and “Main heading 1,” especially considering the fact that, if memory serves, I had “Main Heading 2” validly set as a style for fields for headers in another document I recently created.

    Does anyone know the problem?

    Regards,

    JMT

Can you post an example document? Of course, remove anything confidential.

Are you talking about StyleRef fields? Are these styles Paragraph styles or something else? Are the fields being placed into text boxes or frames?

As Jefferson suggests, it would be easier to diagnose if we can see a sample doc.
