    Linked tables are Read-Only?? (2003)

I have an application that will be used by multiple users. The forms are in 1 .mdb on their desktop and the data tables will be in another .mdb, most likely on a share drive.

I have code that deletes & relinks the tables, but my test-user only can access the tables in read-only mode. I need her to be able to insert into one of the tables.

I've made sure she has read-write access to the share and neither .mdb is read-only.

    What am I missing?

Users need to have modify permissions (read/write/create/delete) in both the folder containing the frontend with the forms and in the folder containing the backend with the tables. They should then be able to edit data. So double-check the permissions.

I tested it by making a share on my PC for the back end. She gets the linked tables, because I can see the .ldb. There is no mention of read only until she saves, and this code fails

    rst.addnew

See the picture for her permissions.

Can she edit data directly in the tables? You wouldn't have users do that under normal circumstances, of course, but it's useful to know.

    She could not.

I did, however, find the problem. I had only added her under Sharing/Permissions. I added her under Properties/Security, and it worked like a charm.
