    Pause video while in presentation (PPT 2007)

    Hi,

    I have an instructional video (.wmv) in a slide within the presentation. When I do a slide show, I have set the video to play automatically when the slide come up. My question is this: Is there a way to "pause" the video playback, and then resume it at the place where it was initially paused? I intend to pause the playback, discuss the details in the video and then I want to "unpause" it to continue the playback.

    The only thing I find that works is if I right click on the video (which pauses to bring up the context menu), or to press F1 (which shows the slide show shortcuts). in either event, when the menu closes, the video resumes. This is "OK", but I am after a more "professional" way to pause/unpause. I do not like the menus/dialogs appearing in the methods I described above.

    TX
    Regards,
    Rudi

    In PowerPoint 2002 and 2003, you pause and resume a video by (left-) clicking on it. Doesn't that work in PowerPoint 2007?

    It does! TX This is great.

    I have tried numerous keyboard combinations, because I hide my mouse pointer during presentations, but this is not a major issue. I will simply need to press Ctrl+A to reactivate the arrow and then click on the video.

    You might like to try this:

    To pause TAB followed by Enter
    To restart TAB then enter again

    Hi Rudi

    I saw this on line, how about using a button with a macro

    Sub PPShortcuts_PauseVideo()
    Application.Run "PPShortcuts.ppa!PauseVideo"
    End Sub

    Sub PPShortcuts_ResumeVideo()
    Application.Run "PPShortcuts.ppa!ResumeVideo"
    End Sub

    Don't know if it works

    Cheers

    That assumes that you have installed an add-in named PPShortcuts (see: OfficeOne: Shortcuts for PowerPoint). Without the add-in, the code won't run.
