DOWNLOAD time outs (IE 7 and XP)

I am getting operation time outs while attempting to download .tif.zip files. These are map files from a government web site. They are between 30 mb and 35mb. files. The message pops up anywhere from 9% to 70% of the way through the download.

Is there a switch that I can set or a parameter that I can change to avoid these errors. Failing that, is there a program that I can use that will remedy this situation?

    Thanks for any pointers.

In the old days, ISPs might have been suspected of terminating the connection, but I hear less about that these days...

Perhaps you would benefit from something in this category? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Download_manager
