    showing file extensions (word 2007/vista)

    what do I do to have the file extensions show in the "open" window, etc.?

    Isn't this dependent on the setting for Windows generally? Open your documents folder, and choose Folder Options on the Tools menu. Choose the View tab and uncheck the box that says Hide extensions for known file types.
