I can't imagine that she would remain a judge here in the UK.

    Judge found guilty.....I think?

Edited by StuartR to make the link live. You just have to put <!t><!/t> before the link and <!t><!/t> after it.

    http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-webco...0,7632161.story

I watched the proceedings here on the states local channel and was appalled by; in her own words that, what she was caught saying and doing was because of the influence of alcohol and not really her true self.

From what I know, because of too much alcohol intake, most peoples tongues and inhabitations get mighty loose, revealing a lot more about one’s real personality.

It makes me wonder now, how much people like this judge “down” just before they sit on their bench.

In my opinion she should have been removed from the bench rather than given a 240-day suspension without pay, for being in violation of the law that she has sworn to up hold.

But I guess when you are a judge; you can have some very powerful friends and in many underhanded ways get a form of favoritism not available to the average person.

She should know better than the average person that has come before her, but I guess her feelings were and could still be, that she, being a judge puts her above the law.

I wonder how many people have been brought before her in the past, that were under the influence of alcohol or drugs while in the commission of a criminal act, and she was as harsh or worse with them as this states panel was with her case.

It is a shame that something like this has to happen, because I believe in the future any defense attorney who wants to use this incident as a loop hole to refuse to have his client have her have judicial power over his client can do so and in many ways make a mockery of our judicial system.

I wonder what would happen to a judge like her if she resided in a country other than the USA.

    Opinions please.

Glad to hear that at least some place relies on the actions of what some one does in the present rather than what some one did long ago and is sitting on their laurels to keep a position that could be better filled by some one who can earn that position every day they have it.

Too much BS in our society.

I know some judges in the US are elected. If that's the case with this one wouldn't the electorate take care of this problem at the next election?

Living in <img src=/S/flags/Switzerland.gif border=0 alt=Switzerland width=18 height=18> I'm all in favour of direct democracy. Let the voter decide!

Yes, at the state level, and judges are frequently voted out, but that can take a while. There needs to be a removal process, and that varies widely by state.

Al, it was back when I tried it just now. I added a couple more links to more detailed versions of the story.
