    Re: Excel (2007)

You can either format the range of cells to text, or use the trick of inserting a hyphen prior to the number eg: '01234567.

If you don't want to type the apostrophy as VagasNath suggests, you can format the cells as text.

Highlight the cell(s) you wnat to change
Right click one of the cells and choose Format Cells
choose Text in the Category window
    Ok out.

In addition to the other suggestions, you can keep it a number and format - cells - custom with 00000000 and it will always keep 8 numbers using leading zeroes

Keep leading zeros entering numbers (Excel 2007)

subject edited by HansV to be less vague than "Excel"

I need to enter numbers on a spreadsheet. Mostly eight digits. For ex. 04568998. I need the first number zero to show on my spreadsheet, but when I go to the next cell it drops off my zero. What do I need to do to show the zero? Thanks in advance.
