    Auto Scrolling (Xp Proff SP2)

I have just placed an Auto Scroll tab on the bar under the main tool bar !!! (see screen shot) and would like to activate it without the mouse. I know Alt + a brings the "Table" tab into focus so how do I activate the Scroll Bar tab which also happens to have the letter A underlined please?

Re: Auto Scrolling (Xp Proff SP2)

AutoScroll is intended to be used with the mouse - when you've entered AutoScroll mode, pressing any key (including the arrow keys) will turn off AutoScroll, so there's not much point in using the keyboard to activate it.

But if you really want to, you have two options:

    1) Using menus and toolbars:
    - Press Alt+F to activate the File menu.
    - Press Ctrl+Tab repeatedly until you've activated the toolbar with the AutoScroll button.
    - Use the left and right arrow keys to set focus to the AutoScroll button.
    - Press Enter to activate it.

    2) Assign a custom keyboard shortcut:
    - Select Tools | Customize...
    - Click Keyboard...
    - Make sure that Normal.dot is selected in the "Save changes in" dropdown.
    - Select All Commmands in the list of categories on the left.
    - Select AutoScroll in the list of cmmands on the right.
    - Click in the "Press new shortcut key" box.
    - Press the keyboard shortcut that you want to use.
    - Click Assign.
    - Close the dialogs.

Re: Auto Scrolling (Xp Proff SP2)

Many thanks Hans. I did not realize I could assign a keyboard shortcut for Auto-Scroll but have done so and find that as soon as I hit the assigned keys (Alt +A) in this case, the big arrow appears in the scroll bar and the text instantly begins to scroll slowly. To increase the scrolling speed the mouse only has to be moved slightly towards me. Now that I have assigned a keyboard shortcut I might as well delete the Auto Scroll tab I dragged on to the tool bar but as the tick box is grayed out in the Add / Remove buttons menu, how do I achieve that please? Thanks SF

    Tools > Customize
Then drag the botton off the toolbar

So simple when you know how but it's the knowing that counts Stuart, eh! Thanks a lot.
