Nice, isn't it? Looks much more modern (and like a blog) now.

Definately more appealing on the eye, as you say, modern! Very nice! Any news on the Lounge upgrade?

It looks like the new Lounge is up and running now, and it looks different (some say boring) but otherwise OK. Registering and posting work just fine, and this is a great format for meeting and interacting with other serious Windows users.

Quite nice, only. The look and feel is good, but I find the text doesn't seem to render very well on my screen (in a variety of browsers).

In what sense? Because the body text is grey?

I'm not sure. Maybe that is it, but it looks rather like the poor quality text you see in the not-so-good options when you are trying to set up ClearType, whereas the text here in the new Lounge looks nice and crisp and clear. Even when it is grey!

The font faces vary to some extent with the skins, although that wasn't expressly advertised in the old skin switcher. The Oldstyle skin (then and now) used/uses Arial while the others in the old Lounge generally used Tahoma. The Classic Blue skin here uses Verdana, a wider and more gently curved font. Despite all being sans serif typefaces, if you are used to one and switch to the other, it definitely looks different.

The font size here may be larger or smaller than the size in the skin you used in old Lounge; if you were used to a large font skin and are using a browser "zoom" feature to upsize text now, it's possible that could create rendering quality issues.

Over time, it should be possible to offer more choices in these areas. And if readability is a serious concern, that seems to me to be more important than fancier background graphics. [running & ducking] We should continue to gather comments.

Jefferson, I think Ian was referring to the new layout of Askwoody.com.

    You're right. I was.

Coincidentally I came across another site today where the text looks unclear in a similar way at https://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/. To me, in all three browsers at my disposal, the text there looks thin and not very legible in the same way as at Askwoody.com. As it happens in all 3 browsers and as most sites appear nice and clear I assume it is something to do with the fonts the sites use rather than the way my broswers or monitor are set up.
