I use XP Pro SP2. In the past, I've had problems through installing patches too soon, so this time I decided to wait. Somehow, I suspect I've waited long enough now, so, as the title says, what's the best way etc.?

    Thanks

SP-3 has been out for quite a while now and any initial problems have been ironed out. I'd recommend you download Download details: Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers. It contains the complete SP-3. I've had good luck with that rather than letting Windows Update determine which pieces to download. You should also burn the file to a CD just in case you ever need to install it again.

NOTE: As with any major system update be sure to do a complete system backup before starting the installation.

Joe, there's a Do not click download if you are updating just one computer. That's exactly what I'm doing. Do you suggest that I install it anyway instead of downloading it from Windows Update?

I'm far from being an IT Pro or a Developer.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Yes, Joe suggests that you download that update even if you're using a single PC.
