    Thumbs up

    Hello,

I got an MS Project file from a friend, deleted all of his tasks and added my own.

Problem though, somewhere in the config, it has his project's start date.

And due to that, all date entries keep jumping to that.

Also, the Print Preview doesn't work properly as it refers to his project's start date.

Please advise on how to fix this.

    Said,

in Project 2003 the start date can be found under Project Information. This is available from the Project menu, and can be edited. There are some other interesting settings available from this menu option. Have a play.

    Best of luck,

    Hi,

Thank you; this works for the task itself.

However, there is a parent entry containing the Start Date but which is greyed out.

MSProject doesn't let me edit that.

    Please advise. Thanks.

    Said,

I am not sure what your issue is.

If the task is greyed out, then you probably have a parent task with children and the start date would be calculated based on the earliest child start date and lastest child finish end date. Take a look at the children tasks linked to the parent to see what is causing this.

By the way, are you using 2003 or 2007?
