I have a Western Digital 750GB My Book Essential Edition (USB connection).

I have my computer in "Hibernate" and when it comes back on it seems like it sees the drive, but then won't access it, but then when I re-boot, it appears OK.

Is this just an issue with hibernating, or is this some type of "warning" that the drive is getting flakey?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

I'd suspect it has to do with hibernating, which is inherently flakey.

I never thought I'd think something being flakey was a good thing, but I'd sure rather have that than to have that drive die!

How do you back up your back up? A third sorce in the cycle?

I suppose you'd put an image on DVDs and store that in a safe. That or another HD. I guess it depends on your level of parinoia.

And your penchant for cupboards full of DVD's! That's a 750 gig driveso whta's that, about 200 DVD's?

I'd be better to get another external and rotate them.

Bob, my bacup isn't 750 gigs, but my backup *drive*, which has some 12 backups for various purposes is, yes.
