For many years I have used TweakIE version 3.1.38. Recently it has started failing when doing a backup of Outlook Express. Once it starts archiving the backup a zero KB file appears in the target directory in Windows Explorer. This is normal but when the archiving has completed this file disappears completely, rather than changing to a 400 to 600 KB file. I have tried repairing the installation and have also uninstalled and reinstalled without success. I cannot find any links to TweakIE support sites.

Are you saving the backup to an internal or external drive?
Have you checked the event logs?
Does the program have a log file?

I am saving the backup to another networked PC. There is an error.log file in the TeakIE directory but all it says is

    5/03/2009 5:15:02 p.m. 3.1.38 TweakIE Location: C:\Program Files\TweakIE 3.1\ Email:

Please check the Application & System Event Logs - Start | run | eventvwr.msc.

Also, is the enough room to store the file on the target PC?

I have checked the logs and cannot find any reference to TweakIE. There is 268GB free space on the target PC.

Are any of the OE files particularly large? Is the file system on the target PC NTFS or FAT32?

The OE files are no larger than usual and I have been using the program for several years without any problems. The file system on both PCs is NTFS.

Can you run the backup to a local folder?

Can you copy/move that folder to the network location?

I hate to butt in while you and Joe are trying to solve a problem, but this is persistent enough that I thought I should mention it to you.

I don't know how you're doing it when you reply to a post, but in several of this thread you are chopping off the opening quote tag ( [quote] )and that breaks the quote so it doesn't work. I've fixed the most recent one so you can see what I mean.

Are you saying that the backup fails or the copy fails?

I guess it is a data problem. Something in your mail since the last backup that TweakIE does not like.

    You have re-booted right?
