At work, I use a Dell laptop that runs on WinXP Pro. In MSCONFIG > Startup tab, there's one item that remains unidentified. The "Startup Item" and "Command" fields are both blank. The "Location" field shows: "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ru n."

I consulted one of our techies, but he has no clue what this item points to. Any ideas?

If you use regedit and navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run you'll find an entry with a Name but no data. Just delete it.

Of course, nothing would happen at startup time if there's nothing shown to do!

But for tidyness' sake it would be good to delete it, as Joe says.
