This is a continuation of the topic Uncompiled open source software - Woody's Lounge, but with a more "search-friendly" title.

I just came across this web service for making a custom font your own handwriting + signature. I'll be giving it a whirl when time allows:

Font Generator - Make Your Own Handwriting Font With Your Fonts

Hmm, what happens to your handwriting sample and the font after you've downloaded it? Does it, as the default copyright entry implies, become the property of yourfonts.com?

Or am I being way too cautious?

You can always do as I did and change the copyright to your own name.

True but I'm still wondering what happens to the 'master' copy of the font on the server. Somehow my handwriting feels like part of me and it shouldn't be left on the net.

Then again, how many copies of my signature are floating around the banking system on cheques and what about all those forms I've filled in over the years?

    1. these things are useless for "signing" documents and sending to others because they don't have the custom font installed on their machine. SO they can't see your signature.

    2. Security wise, I wouldn't use something like this. I used to work for a couple of electronic/digital signature companies. When we would get someone using a scanned type signature, particularly for something valuable, we would sometimes extract the person's signature, attach it to a document saying they had agreed to pay us $10k and send the document back to them to show them how easy it was to do this and why they should use proper e-sign software.
