    Can anyone help ..... please?

We have a number of templates, in Word 2007, stored under a specific folder on the C drive. Under the File Locations we have pointed the Workgroup templates to this location. The problem we have is that if a user selects File/New they would then need to select "My Templates" to access these templates. Is there a way we can either rename the folder, as the user would not recognise the installed templates as "My Templates" or allow the templates to appear when the user selects "Installed Templates" (at the moment "Installed Templates" show all the Microsoft Standard Templates).

    Thanks
    Jack

I have carried out some research and have found a way to highlight specific templates under File/New. Ensure Word is closed, then click on the Start button and under "Start Search" type "Regedit.exe" to access the registry. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Office, 12.0, Word, Recent Templates and export the key ("Recent Templates") to your desktop, this will allow you to import back if you make any mistakes when putting the changes in place. Highlight all keys under Recent Templates and delete.

Open Word and select one of the created templates, run the template, then close Word. Go back to the Registry and you will see two keys, one named "Friendly1" and the other "Template1" - you will note that "Friendly1" has the name of the template, with "Template1" with the file path of the template.

Create a new string (right click then New, String Value), type "Friendly2", then double click and type in the name of the template ie. Letter.dotm, then create another new string, and type in "Template2", double click and type in the filepath (copy "Template1" and change accordingly). When you have included all the templates into this location, close the registry, open Word, click File/New and all the templates you placed within the registry will be visible.

    Regards
    Jack
