I tried to open a file which has been on my external Seagate drive quite some time but it would not open rather the following message appeared on screen. Why might this app have gone awol & how might I get hold of it and re-install it please?

Apc.exe could be several things, but Ashampoo Photo Commander seems to be the most likely candidate. Do you have that application? If so, do you have an installation CD, or a downloaded installation file for it?

A quick adav.dll - Live Search reveals that ADAV.DLL is used in several Ashampoo products. So, even if you don't have the specific product HansV mentioned it might be disguised as part of a suite. A reinstall or a repair (if offered) of your Ashampoo products definitely seems in order.

SORRY. I have not followed up these responses before now. The Ashampoo Burning Stdio 6 prog that I have installed was downloaded as a freebie which was offered (for a limited period) to subscribers of the UK "ComputerActive" magazine therefore I do not have a disc so in light of comments received so far I contacted Ashampoo for advice but to date .... no reply. Maybe I will contact them again. Regards SF

The file APC.EXE is not on my hard drive, BUT the ADAV.DLL is present in my Program File directory for the Ashampoo Burning Studio Version 8 that I have on board.

You surely must have the file of the Version 6 that you downloaded, so why don't you re-install it while you wait for a response to your query?
