I have hooked several computers up to flatscreen TVs with no problems. The most recent one we bought however worked out differently. I had to get a DVI to HDMI cable to connect the two. Now if I leave the TV turned off for a few hours it won't see the computer when I turn it back on (until I reboot the PC.) I can log onto the PC remotely, so I know the machine hasn't simply gone to sleep, but I can't see the desktop on the TV.

I can just continue to reboot the computer every time I need to use it, but that's kind of annoying. Any suggestions?

Is the TV configured as a monitor? Check the power management settings.

I'm fairly knew to HDMI televisions, but I can relate. We've had a similar thing happen from time to time but not just with the PC that's connected to it. When it happens, I find turning just the TV off and back on is usually enough to get the TV to look again and find the PC or whatever else is connected to it.
