Can someone tell me the difference between Sharing - (Permission button) and Security tabs on the properties of a shared folder in windows 2003 sever, checked on Google but still it is not clear, if someone could give a simple explanation I would really appreciate it.

The sharing permissions only affect users connecting via your network.
The security permissions affect all users, whether they are local or network.
Think of the sharing permissions as being like an extra filter that network users have to get through before the system even checks the file permissions.
