Re: Creating Gannt Charts (Access97)

You'll be using the same MS Graph applet to create the chart, whether in Access or Excel, and they're easier to manipulate in Excel. You can still use the Access database as your recordsource for the chart though.

    Re: Creating Gannt Charts (Access97)

I tried to create the Gannt chart without great deal of success in both Access and Excel. I really could not get it to work correctly in either application. Is there are some kind of documentation or better still a sample that shows the way to generate the Gannt chart using either application for one or multiple projects with multiple tasks. Similar to but not necessarily the same as Microsoft Project output (refer to attached picture). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Creating Gannt Charts (Access97)

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of a metod to create a Gannt chart in Access 97? We have collected starting and ending dates for various tasks in our project. The data is stored in Access 97 table. I was asked to create some kind of a chart that will display the tasks in easy to read format. It has to work on various users on different machines. Gannt chart format seems the best way to go, however, I had more then my share of problems with ChartWizard/Microsoft Graph 97 when trying to create it. Any help would be great!

You might take a look at Visio. It can produce Gantt charts and you can embed them in Office applications. Otherwise, a search from http://www.google.com using the expression

    gantt chart "Microsoft Access"

returned 510 hits, including this one, on turning an Excel spreadsheet into a Gantt chart.

er, Charlotte, why not Project? Is Visio cheaper than Project (that is a reason I could understand).

Actually, I think it may be (except for the enterprise edition, of course), but the reason I didn't suggest it was because this post seemed to suggest they were looking for a non-Project alternative, one they could embed in Access or Excel.
