I know it sounds strange, but I've got a Word app which runs on a PC used for other processes. Even when reminded, the user still tries to do other work while the Word app runs.

In clicking around, and occasionally using the keyboard, the input focus sometimes lands in the Word application. Not a good thing when the insertion point gets changed while Word is searching a large document.

It would be nice to turn off keyboard and mouse input in the Word application while it's running. I haven't found a way to do this. Is it (safely) possible?

Oops, never mind. I found it via Google:

Declare Function BlockInput Lib "USER32.dll" (ByVal fBlockIt As Long) As Long

    'Turn off keyboard/mouse
    BlockInput True

    'Turn on keyboard/mouse
    BlockInput False
