Good afternoon. A colleague has asked how to create a column in a spreadsheet that can only be populated with a limited fixed selection of entries. Ideally, the user would be creating a new record or row, and when one right clicked on cell B22 in the sample sheet, a drop down menu would appear offering a fixed selection from which to choose. Can this be done?

You can use Data Validation for this. With Excel 2003 the steps would be.
    • Type the allowed values into a row or column of cells somewhere on the worksheet
    • Select the cells where data entry is needeed
    • From the Data menu choose Validation
    • Allow: List
    • Source: Select the cells with your allowed values
    • Make sure that "In-cell dropdown" is selected
